Gal 3:26  For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
Gal 3:27  For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Gal 3:28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

that is what i thought of as soon as i read the post.
im with blade though, never really give it much thought.

I'm with Preacherman in this one. Although the concept of Bride of Christ sounds Catholic to me, I seem to recall that Nuns are made Bride's of Christ in some sort of ceremony. Or is that an outdated perception based on some old movies?

The best possible personal relationship that one can experience will be with our Savior Jesus Christ.   To be the "Bride of Christ" is the ultimate  in the description of that relationship.  The oneness in Marriage is a reflection of the oneness Christ desires for each of His Children.
The picture of  a mother's love for her baby also is a glimpse of the love that Christ will have for his "Bride"  the Church.
If you are truly "Born Again" you will have a chosen place with Jesus Christ as His "Bride" throughout eternity.      jd

According to Eph 5, the Church is the Bride of Christ. And so we all are, in a sense, 'female'. I have no problem being referred to in a feminine form.

After thinking about it for a bit, and realizing again that the Church as a whole is the bride awaiting Christ I think the biggest lesson I have to take away from this is how I should act as a husband. (when I become one that is!)  I don't remember exactly where, but I believe Paul exhorts the male believers to love their wives as Jesus loves the church-- as Christ loves us.  By and for that love, Christ died for us and was always faithful.  He gave so much and continues still to give in perfect service, not serving in order to be served, but simply to serve.

Eph 5:22-33 "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband."
